ConsenSys to split into separate MetaMask and institutional services companies
TechFlow, Sep 10: Cointelegraph reports ConsenSys, MetaMask's parent, will split into two independent companies to resolve diverging priorities between consumer and institutional businesses. The reorganization separates MetaMask's consumer business from the Ethereum protocol and institutional infrastructure arm, expected to complete by end-2026. Founder Joe Lubin becomes chairman and CEO of the new MetaMask company, focused on consumer self-custody and expanding into payments, savings and investment products. The other entity, keeping the ConsenSys name, becomes a dedicated institutional blockchain company under CEO Mike Kriak, integrating Linea, Besu and Teku to help financial institutions with tokenization and stablecoin issuance.
